Capel Draft 2013

For us, the Australia Day weekend is all about the Capel Campdraft. Sure, we hang a huge Aussie flag in the middle of our camp, plaster the kids with temporary tattoos of kangaroos and boomerangs, drink beer in pluggers and say ”bewdy mate” alot but its a family tradition to be at Capel on that weekend every year. The cattle are usually reasonable, the shade plentiful and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly. This year, our whole family had a go with the only one not bringing home any money being mum!

We are so happy for our daughter, who managed to nearly get TWO gates in two runs, and her only real goal was to get just one peg. An added bonus, she beat her brother by 1 point. Our son won overall topcut out on his mare and was very happy with that.

With lots of finals runs, a couple placings in the maiden and open as well as a TCO made Ross weekend a good one. The little mare Acres to Spin went very well considering its her second draft ever!

So, a big thank you to Capel Draft committee, the sponsors and the cattle donors. We will be back next year, with a spare stubbie and a snag or two if you want to come along.
