March 2014

Stud News.

We are very proud and priveleged to be able to offer our new stallion BLUE CHIP BOON to the horse industry. By Peptoboonsmal himself and out of outstanding imported mare Freckles Molly Mac, “Boonie” is exceptional in every sense of the word!
A huge thank you to Morning Sun Ranch for the opportunity to purchase such an extraordinary colt.
To celebrate, we are offering an introductory service fee of $750 (plus vet, agistment and shipping) to first 10 bookings only. (onlyTWO Left) First collect free.
The old man himself, Spin on Command is till powering on and we think Duck N Lethal will be back to his usual self very soon. To our mare owners and everyone who has supported our little stud, we thank you and look forward to seeing your babies and working with you again very soon.
Out and About.

We hope to be more involved with cutting in 2014, taking our kids along to experience another side of cow sports and enjoying their horses in a whole new way.
The first draft for us in 2014 is Mount Barker, we are so looking forward to getting away from this unrelenting heat and spending some time in the cooler country.
We are very pleased to have Jacob working with us at the moment. He is very keen to learn and is doing very well with both breeding and riding work. He is also a bit a basketball star and we have had him recruited as an umpire for our junior league. No rest for the wicked….
Other News.
The AI Centre side of our business has had a very successful year again and we look forward to seeing the babies we have made in this and previous years, out and about.
Foaling season seemed to go on forever but all arrived safely bar one who was quickly revived and shows no ill effects. Interestingly, 75% of all the mares bred here last season (with livecover, onfarm AI, chilled, frozen ) have delivered fillies. Does this mean we will have a colt majority this coming foaling season?
Let us know your thoughts.

Farm Update.

Water!!! A bore has been equipped and looks to be a great source of fresh clean water, offering more opportunities for expansion. Spelling and rest/rehab and long term agistment and/or retirement will be available as early as March this year.
The Breakaway Retreat begins construction this year offering a quiet and secluded “Break Away” from everything. Offering pristine bushland setting, breathtaking views of the avon Vally and surrounds, gourmet foods/wines and friendly service, we hope our visitors can enjoy our farm as much as we do.
The feedlot is getting a spruce up for the first lot of cattle and the fencing continues with strategic rest pauses in this heat!!

Farrier News
We are very excited about the product “Hoofmaker” currently being used by a few of our clients. Proven safe and very effective, it means all the difference to horses and ponies with hoof problems and shelly feet. Contact us to arrange to try it for your self.

A LITTLE ABOUT WHAT WE DO
We are a farrier business, quarterhorse/stockhorse stud, AGWA and RWWA licensed artificial breeding facility, stallion station, injury management and rehab centre. We enjoy campdrafting and cutting events and have some success. We perform clerk of course duties at NHRC meetings and we are a RWWA registered race day farrier. We pride ourselves on helping where ever and whenever we can. And, as we are so involved in the horse industry, if we can’t help you with a horse related question or problem, we will try to find you someone who can.
