What an exciting time!
Ross went to Tamworth earlier this month to help his mentor and friend, John Brekelmans with his team for 2013.The colt This Ducks Smart was prepped and sold through the NCHA select Sale for $29000. The amazing mare Ducks Dux had some brilliant runs with one unhelpful cow affecting her final placings.
Most of all, Ross got to ride some very talented horses and catch up with some great friends. Some of them remember Spin on Command from when he was competing in the east and described him as an awesome horse.Ross has come home very puffed but also fired up and ready to get his own horses going!
He lives…!
A couple of weeks ago, our stallion Spin on Command had a brush with death when some tourists (hopefully innocently!) fed him from over the fence. Within hours he was in serious pain and euthansia was considered. But a good drench, pain relief and large volume IV fluids helped him pull through. Within 2 days he back humbugging the dog and rattling his feeder. A huge thank you to Dr Tanya Ladyman from Waverley Park Vet for her assistance.
Barn News.
The Equissage service has really taken off. It is so nice seeing horses relax into it and always good to hear
from the owners about the difference it has made to their horses performance, health and general well being. If you would like to have your horse or yourself treated, contact us now.
Stud News.
As most are aware, Spin on Command is not getting any younger! This year he will be 26 years young. Everyone who has a Spin horse knows how quiet, sound and versatile they are. This could be the last chance to breed to WA’s most influential QH sire. Contact us now to enquire about our chilled semen offers and multiple mare discounts.
Other news.
Stud season is fast approaching and construction of our new yards continues. Our old yards were a design trial that worked so well that we never got around to making it permanent! But now we will have safe, purpose built stallion yards, mare and foal yards and weather proof foaling down pens.
We have a wide selection of stallions being collected here this year, it looks as though we will be very busy with the mare side and foaling down spaces are filling fast. If you are considering breeding this year, contact us to discuss your requirements and reserve a place.
Farrier News
The newly cleaned and tidied barn now has a coffee machine, comfortable seating and small childs play area to keep everyone safe and happy whilst horses are shod.
Dont forget to talk to us about the new HoofMaker Pellets for those horses with problem feet.
And watch the ponies this time of year for signs of laminitis. It is very rare to have to euthanase a horse or pony for hoof problems but this conditon can be fatal if not managed properly.
